Kensington Birthday Party Photos – London Birthday Party Photography

A few weeks back my sweet little girl Scarlett turned 1 year old. Where oh where did the time go? I hadn’t initially planned on having a birthday party, let alone taking birthday party photos for the occasion, but after looking through images of the big bash we thew for my son when he turned one I couldn’t NOT do at least sooooooomething! And so I got on Pinterest, one thing lead to another, and before I knew it I was totally out of control throwing a full-on woodland themed birthday party complete with handmade animal masks, a homemade owl cake, star shaped fox cookies, a pinecone cheeseball, chocolate “acorns”, rolled paper invitations, a miniature sandwich bunting, owl cupcakes, toadstool cupcakes, a branch and leaf mobile, a table bunting, and on and on.
I was so busy setting everything up before the party that I only had a few minutes to take some quick birthday party photos, and then once the guests arrived I put my camera away so that I could enjoy the birthday party as well. Overall I’m very happy with how the birthday party photography turned out and I think I made the right choice to enjoy the party rather than experience it from behind the camera. I am also happy that I actually did a “cake smash” photo session before the party–I don’t do a lot of these as I feel they have a tendency to be a bit cheesy but I think we pulled it off (maybe?). Plus I had the perfect prop for the occasion when we received the beautiful hand knit reindeer hat as a gift from my dear friend Sarah. It was just meant to be.
The owl cupcakes and toadstool cupcakes were courtesy of Cuppidy Cakes, and everything else was done by yours truly Amy Fanton Photography/Baking/Cheeseball Making/Felt Cutting/Cake decorating/invitation creator etc.
Unfortunately, Scarlett’s big brother came down with pink eye 24 hours before the party but we refused to call it off and luckily none of Scarlett’s friends ended up going home with a pink eye party favor.
